We had 46 people come to the game group with a good mix of new faces and returning gamers.
10 Days in Asia plays like Racko, but you learn about Geography, and there are some twists along the way as you journey across the globe. In the background there is a game of Dutch Blitz in progress.
Revolution is a interesting blind bidding game where you fill an entire matrix with your intended plays. There is a rock, paper, scissors like mechanic to the bidding where part of what you bid on is improving the ability to bid on your next turn.
For Sale is a favorite for a lot of people, but it is particularly popular with the younger crowd at the game group. Sure, it's a simple game, but it's challenging to do well at it.
Five Crowns is becoming a favorite. It is simple and light, but fun and just challenging enough to keep everyone happy. It plays a little long, but it keeps moving, so you won't notice the time going by.
The word on the street is that there's a great party game at the game group. It's Word On The Street, of course (and yes, this joke is getting a little tired). The game continues to engage a lot of people and keep the fun flowing. It even started to gather some on-lookers and there was standing room only for a while.
Big games of Bang! are becoming common place at the game group. It is very popular, especially for the boys. It's unsure if they are playing by the rules, but they are having fun and the bullets are flying.
Some other boys were found hidden away in the teen room playing Citadels. Maybe we'll get a bigger game going of this in the future. This game is great and plays best with a lot of people.
The girls were off running around and playing Dancing Eggs. I'm not sure what's crazier this game or these girls.
Boo Who is a fun kids game that is simple and surprisingly challenging for adults. All you do is roll the die and move, but at some point you'll roll a ghost, and if you do you cover up a piece with a ghost and you won't take it off until the end of the game. If all the ghosts are covered up you switch them around, and if you want to make it real hard you can force switches of player colors. All the while you lose track of who you are moving and more often than not you end up helping someone else win.
Order's up is a card game with a wild "ring the bell first" objective. Fast reflexes are required and you can end up missing opportunities to fill your order if you're not quick enough.
Star Date 2011-02-11. Our mission is to survive the first training mission. Our ship is the good ship Sitting Duck. We fearlessly take on the enemy and only die once out of four times in this nearly impossible to lose mission. Now only seven more training missions and simulators before we take on real mission. Live long and prosper. Yeah right!
In Thingamajig you use this thingamajig to display some thingamajig that you then have to get most everyone to guess. Not everyone, because that's bad, but if at least one person fails to guess it you get points.
Time's up made a showing at the game group and not in the holiday versions that we've played in groups past.
There was a lot of laughter coming from the Pit table. I'm not sure how successful the trades are when everyone is giggling.
Sounds Like A Plan was a surprise hit. A lot of people liked it and there have been requests for having this show up again. It plays up to eight so everyone should get a chance to try it if they want to.
