We got things rolling with Tumblin' Dice and the game didn't get put away all night. The game includes enough for four players, but we ended up having over a dozen players play by adding dice. This game is a great mix of skill with a little luck.
There was some instructional opportunities for playing Texas Hold'em without the gambling of course, but that didn't deter those interested to learn.
One of our new gamers had played Dixit a few nights before, so they helped out and taught the game to others. This game really brings out the creative side to people, is a blast, and is often very funny.
Another new gamer brought the game Sushi Roll. This was played at least three times and everyone seemed to like it. It's fun to pretend to be a Sushi Chef and to fill orders for Sushi.
For Sale made another repeat visit to the Game Group. The game is quick, simple, and fun... a perfect combination.
Speaking of games making a return visit, Incan Gold was back and new adventurers boldly avoided traps to find treasure.
We played Moovit, but the game was picked up too quickly to get a picture of everyone playing. Moovit plays like Uno, but you have to make the animal sounds of the cards you play, but you can't make the sound when you play red cards, and don't forget what the rooster or donkey means because no one is going to tell you, and remember to look out for a cow cycle. Oh, and you only have a few seconds to avoid paying a penalty when you'll be told to Moovit!
Remember the beat from the song "We Will Rock You"? Hit the table twice then CLAP hands just like the song. Repeat until the leader skips the CLAP and makes their gesture instead. On the next CLAP the leader then makes someone else's gesture. That person then makes their own gesture followed by someone else. This keeps going until someone messes up. It's loud and crazy fun.
Game Group wouldn't be the same without Castle Panic, and to think this was almost left home this week. We should know better.
If you want the Bounty, you've got to be prepared to use your Blaster. That's how you win Bounties and Blasters. Here we have a not so friendly negotiation betweent Bounty Hunters. The lucky recipient of all these blasts was soon incapacitated and out of the game. Some of the more junior hunters survived and split the loot.
Some people got to learn Jungle Speed. I'm not sure how well it went over with this crowd, so it might be a while before Jungle Speed Extreme is introduced. Oh well, at least there were no injuries reported this time.
Pegs & Jokers made a return visit to the Game Group. We like! We like! We like the game and we like those beautiful boards. If you have a board you can join in, so if we had enough boards we could have a HUGE game of it. WOW!
Sorry there isn't a picture of Sorry being played. Sorry was played at some point in the night. Promise!
Some gamers slipped away upstairs to play Rummikub. Is it pronounced Roomy-cube? or Rummy-cub? or Roomy-Cub? or Rummy-koob? or Rummy-Cube? The game originated in Israel where it is called something like REH-me-cube, but that may be because there is no Hebrew way to say Rum. The last word on this may be that the 1998 Pressmen rules for 'The Original Rummicub(R)' lists the following under the game title: (Rummy-Cube).
What do you get when you and your partner get eight words from four different languages and some arm gestures to help you and your partner rearrange people on a train into their correct seats? You get LocoMotive and pictures just wouldn't do this game justice. So, here is a video of some gamers playing LocoMotive. The game is as crazy as this video shows and just as fun.
All in all 35 people came to the Game Group. We had a great time and look forward to the next one.
